Chris Handler Shares His Favorite Top 5 Gospel Songs To Listen To Over & Over Again This Week

It’s true I am an entertainment blogger and for the past 2 years, I have been updating you with the latest entertainment news in Ghana and sometimes across Africa. Well, as a blogger I also have a relationship with God and I must say it’s of enormous joy to worship God and proclaim that you are a child of God. We don’t usually do stories on Sundays, so I have decided to use the day to share something more personal with my maker and also get my readers in a way closer to God and to remind them of His unconditional love for them.

I don’t know but recently, I have developed some kind of love for Gospel Music. Over the past 3 weeks, I have been playing some particular songs almost everyday. These are old songs and I must say that, you might have even heard of some of them. Notwithstanding, I want to share with your my top gospel songs that I have been listening to over and over again for the past 3 weeks and I know that you would fall in love with them.

1.Ebezina by Nigerian Musician Preye

I have heard of this song before, but I never paid attention to it until onetime when I followed my mum to a church all night. Yes, I had to go although that’s soo not Chris Handler. When we were returning, I switched the radio to Peace Fm and right there, my ears were met with a melodic tune.

“He’s the same God, who was there for you in the midnight hour

He’s the same God who’s able to wipe your tears away……”

And for the first time, I paid attention to the lyrcis of the song and after it had been played, I had no idea what the song title was or even whether the musician was Nigerian or Ghanaian or even Indian. Before the song ended, I put a bit of it on Snapchat and asked if anyone knew the title of the song and within seconds, I got lots of responses from friends and that was how I discovered the title of the song and the person who sang it. When I got home, I googled it and watched the video over and over on Youtube. I had just fallen in love with the song and although my voice is teribble, I tried to sing along.

Ebezina which means “Don’t Cry” is such an amazing song and I feel bad I didn’t get to know of it earlier enough. It talks about keeping our faith in God and trusting in Him to save us when we grow through tough times in life. As Christians, we must always trust in God because he’s the same God today, tomorrow and forever. Trust in Him.

2.Way Maker By Sinach

I believe most of you know Sinach or you are also just like me. I have been listening to this woman’s songs most of the time but I had no idea she was the one who sang them. What would you do If I told you I didn’t know she was the one who sang “I know Who I am”?  Well, I got to know her just some two months ago. I know right? Well, now I know her and may other Gospel Musicians and would be sharing with you updates on them more frequently. Well, there is this song of hers that I discovered recently while surfing for some videos on Youtube. The title of the song is “Way Maker”

She released it in December 2015 and it’s such a simply beautiful song to sing in 2016. I just want you to also watch the video below:

3. Break Every Chain By Tasha Cobbs

I just love this song soo much that I don’t think I can stop singing it now especially when I want to pray and I am feeling weak. I heard the song for the first time in a movie I watched which featured Majid Michel. The title of that movie was “Knocking On Heaven’s Door”. It’s a nice Christian movie and I would urge you to look for it if you’ve not watched it yet. When the movie started, the opening scene was some Choristers singing the song and I just loved the song.

After the movie, I didn’t make an attempt to look for the song until recently when it dropped in my spirit to look for it. So I started typing the whole of the song in the youtube search box because I had no idea of the title of the song or who even sang it and voila, it came up and it was Tasha Cobbs.

As you watch this video, every chain that will be holding you in your life will be broken. There’s soo much power in the name of Jesus.

4.Imela by Nathaniel Bassey ft Enitan Adaba

Sometimes when you pray to God, you don’t have to make any request. You just have to thank Him for your life and that of your friends and family. There was one time, I woke up and I don’t know how to explain it but then I woke up and there was just one word on my mind “Imela” . I felt within me to go and search for that word and the first thing I did was to type that word in Youtube and Voila, it was a song. I have heard of the song before but I didn’t pay attention to the title.

I played it a fe times and that day I just decided to give thanks to God. I always pray making my requests but that day, I just decided to thank God for my life and not ask anything but to reflect on His goodness.  Imela means  Thank You.
