Ghanaian entrepreneur and Guinness World Record hopeful Afua Asantewaa has finally addressed the growing criticism surrounding her remarks about government support during her first sing-a-thon attempt — and she isn’t mincing words.
In a candid video posted on her Instagram page on April 20, 2025, Afua declared that she is leaving the backlash in God’s hands.
“My prayers lately are to those who wants my downfall. God will deal with all those people,” she said, visibly emotional.
According to Afua, she was deeply disturbed by false allegations that she had received lavish gifts — including cars and an apartment — from the previous government. The rumors, which circulated following an interview on Accra FM with Nana Romeo on March 13, 2025, prompted her to publicly clear the air.
“It got to a point where I felt like coming out to clear the allegation because I was singing and how was it possible for me to take money at the same time during my performance?” she questioned.
Setting the record straight, she revealed that the only form of support she received during her Guinness World Record attempt was medical aid for her sore throat.
“I didn’t receive anything from the government. The only thing I got was medicine to heal my throat, and that came from the former vice president when he visited me during the performance,” she explained.
Afua also took a moment to clarify that her earlier remarks were not aimed at attacking anyone personally, especially her husband.
“Well, I’m not saying my husband is an angel, but I was speaking for myself. I didn’t go to that interview to talk about anyone. If you were a deep thinker, you would have understood the point I was making.”
With her sights still set on achieving a Guinness World Record, Afua Asantewaa seems undeterred by the noise. Her message is clear: she’s focused, faithful, and unfazed.
