Mahama’s X account hacked, CSA investigates

The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) of Ghana has confirmed that the X (formerly Twitter) account of President John Dramani Mahama was compromised in the early hours of Monday, March 17, 2025.

In a press release issued on March 18, 2025, the CSA stated:

“The account has been used to promote a cryptocurrency called ‘Solana Africa.’”

The Authority acknowledged the public concern the incident has generated and assured Ghanaians that steps are being taken to resolve the issue.

“We understand the public concern this incident has generated and are actively addressing the situation. The Authority is working closely with X and other relevant stakeholders to address this incident and to prevent future occurrences,” the statement read.

The CSA further assured the public that they would provide updates as investigations progress.

This incident raises concerns about high-profile account security, as cybercriminals increasingly target influential figures for fraudulent schemes.
