Mzbel voices frustration over job shortage despite NDC’s return to power

Ghanaian musician and known National Democratic Congress (NDC) sympathizer, Mzbel, has taken to social media to express her discontent over the limited job opportunities available to supporters, even with her party back in power.

In a candid post, the musician revealed she is under immense pressure from individuals within her network—ranging from constituents and friends to fellow creatives and newly eligible voters—who are all seeking employment opportunities in the wake of the NDC’s electoral victory.

“Our party is in power but we’re still struggling to get jobs, lol.
The pressure on me right now from my constituency, colleagues, friends, family, new voters, and fans is unbearable… they just want jobs,” she posted.

Mzbel, who actively campaigned for the NDC in the run-up to the 2024 elections, hinted at the emotional and social toll of having mobilized support from communities with the expectation of economic relief that is yet to materialize.

Meanwhile, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia has addressed similar concerns raised by party faithful across the country.

In a separate statement, he clarified that the NDC’s approach to governance does not include purging the public sector of individuals perceived to be affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in order to create space for NDC loyalists.

According to him, the party’s broader objective is to reset Ghana’s economy and strengthen its institutions rather than indulge in political vindictiveness.
